RESURGENCE 2008

A woman walking by outside

lifts her head to the sun.

Another woman wears an Eskimo

hood. The sun fills this café

diagonally. The people in coats

close their eyes like sages.

Except me, watching to learn.

How long the human face

is! Everyone’s stronger now.

Winter doesn’t dim them.
