BALANCE

From the old brown couch just under the sill,

gazing across to the Star jasmine vine,

I watch the plant frame the window, pressing on light,

looking outside to the solstice;

a snow sculpture on blue garden glass,

and in the quiet Sunday sunrise

I hear you sleep-breathing  –

completing this world.
